Is Christ King of your heart?

When you think about it, Jesus can relate to all of us who are marginalized by society or feel as outcasts. It is hard to imagine that there was no room for Jesus to be born, and that He had to be born in a stable.

“And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7

The King of the universe came to earth and there was no place for Him.

Think about that!

The inn represents our hearts and that mankind has no place in their hearts for God. But we as believers have received Christ into our hearts and we have the Holy Spirit, we have given room to the Lord in our being.

The heart is symbolic for the center of your life. Since the physical heart is the central beat and life giving force of your body, the spiritual heart is the same, that is why we need Jesus there.

My question for you this Christmas is about your heart.

How is your heart?

That is, the center of your being. Is God allowed there? Or are idols there right now?

Maybe it is the idol of sex, or the idol of work, or of money, or of sports.

You see, even though the story of there being no room at the inn for Christ was over 2000 years ago… the same still applies today. The question is not only for those who have rejected Christ, but for those who claim to be His… yet their hearts are far from Him.

Lord, bring our hearts closer to you. Inhabit us with your presence and lead us by the Spirit to do your will.

On earth as it is in Heaven, until your Kingdom come.
